The Wash Houses of the Hamlet of Fontchristianne

Two wash houses, one at the bottom and the other at the top of the Hamlet. They evoke the memory of a bygone era and recall the hard work of our grandmothers.
It was an eminently social place in each village. It was the place where women met once a week or more and where they exchanged all the latest news or gossip from the neighborhood and Briançon.

These wash houses are abandoned for washing, rinsing laundry but are still widely used for watering flowers and ...,

We must contribute to the maintenance of these wash houses and act so that they are restored and enhanced.
