The association
Some inhabitants of the village of Fontchristianne founded an association called:
FONTCHRISTIANNE HERITAGE
Act – Value – Promote – Protect – Perpetuate
The purpose of this association is deliberately broad and focuses on the promotion, conservation, protection and safeguarding of the historical, popular and environmental heritage of the hamlet of Fontchristianne and the surrounding area.
But the motivation of the members of the office first and foremost takes on its meaning in the rehabilitation of the small chapel at the top of the village of Fontchristianne to which they are attached and which deteriorates from year to year.
Built in the 17th century and under the protection of Saint James and Saint Joseph, it is visible from the path taken by walkers who often return to the city center after venturing on the path of the Pont d'Asfeld. It contains a magnificent canvas from 1846 representing the Virgin and Child surrounded by St. Joseph and St. James the Greater.
The members of the Association are willing to bring this project to life and uphold the values of the village's inhabitants. We have seen the communal oven disappear for the creation of a car park and we do not want this chapel exposed to the ravages of time to disappear!
The rehabilitation of the small chapel of Fontchristianne could be part of a global project which is of great interest because it allows:
-
safeguard historical and religious heritage,
-
add this chapel to the cultural tours circuit, or simply a destination along the way,
-
perpetuate and promote a neighborhood spirit,
-
highlight know-how
The Association:
The statutes of the Association were published in the Official Journal of January 19, 2021 and a bank account was opened.
We have taken initial action with the inhabitants of the hamlet of Fontchristianne in order to raise awareness of this chapel, some of which were unaware of its existence, and to involve the inhabitants in the project of restoring it by joining the association.
Partnership with the Town Hall:
The Association, in partnership with the Briançon Town Hall, is committed to the project of restoring the small chapel as part of a respectful and concerted approach.
The Association undertakes, where appropriate, to collect donations and funds: individuals, companies, Crédit Agricole Foundation, Stéphane Bern Foundation, Heritage Foundation, Safeguarding French Art, Old French Houses, etc.
The association, once the mission has been accomplished, intends to continue its action by maintaining the premises and linking this rehabilitation to neighborhood events.
